The Minors Division is designed for developing athletes who are ready for full player-pitch game play and deeper skill development. At this level, we continue to prioritize growth, confidence, and enjoyment, helping kids fall in love with softball while advancing their abilities in a positive, supportive environment.
Schedule:
Two to three events per week (2 hours each), including potential Saturdays, as weather and daylight allow.
League age charts can be located here.
*Please note that softball age charts are different from baseball age charts.*
Format:
- Pitching distance: 35 feet
- Base path: 60 feet
- Ball size: 11" softballs
- Entirely player-pitch
- Players continue to develop and expand base-stealing skills
Player Eligibility:
- Players should have at least one year of experience in a lower division or demonstrate strong hand-eye coordination and consistently safe play.
- First-year players who are league-age 9 are encouraged to play one year in 89ers before moving to Minors to build foundational skills.
- Attendance at Evaluations is required for spring season.
- For spring season, draft is used, but all players are placed on a team based on skill level to ensure a safe and appropriate competitive environment.
- For fall ball season, players may request specific teammates or a coach. Requests will be accommodated to the best of our ability.
- Players may be eligible for All-Stars. Attendance at Evaluations and meeting Little League International and District requirements may result in an invitation to try out for an All-Star team.
What a player and family should expect:
- Growth & Confidence: Building stronger pitching, hitting, and fielding skills while recognizing each player's improvements and effort.
- Fun & Enjoyment: Making practices and games engaging through real-game situations, friendly competition, and opportunities for players to succeed.
- Skill Advancement: Introducing advanced drills, situational hitting, base-running strategies, and defensive positioning to improve overall game performance.
- Competitive Edge: Encouraging smart in-game decisions, teamwork, clear communication, and focused, fair competition to prepare players for higher levels. At this level, athletes refine skills, gain confidence, and develop a deeper understanding of the game while enjoying structured competition and teamwork.
Parents and coaches are strongly encouraged to participate in the facilitation of practices and games that promote a safe, instructive and fun environment.
Required Gear:
- Glove: Make sure your glove is a Fastpitch Softball glove, not a Baseball glove. The pocket of a baseball glove is smaller, and your Fastpitch player will struggle catch the softball with a baseball glove.
- Batting Helmet: For all of our Softball Divisions, all batters must wear a batting helmet with face guard.
- Face Mask
- Rubber Molded Softball Cleats
- Softball Bat Guide to buying a softball bat
Optional Gear:
Bat Rules - There is NOT a USA Standard for Softball Bats, so all bats are Little League-approved as long as they meet the softball bats as outlined under Rule 1.10.
